Earlier this month, we announced our travel forecast for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. With 25.3 million customers counting on the airlines to bring their families together to give thanks, we thought it would be a good time to remind leaders in Washington that they have the chance to improve air travel for everyone.
Right now, Congress is working on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill and one of the most important issues they are considering is transforming our nation’s air traffic control (ATC) system. We strongly encourage congressional leaders to reform and modernize our ATC system, thus restoring our place as a leader in aviation technology, making air travel more efficient for all of our passengers and maintaining our world-class safety record.
We think the best way to modernize the system is to create a federally chartered, non-profit organization to oversee ATC operations, while allowing the FAA to continue working to ensure the U.S. has the safest skies in the world.
Recently, A4A’s own Sharon Pinkerton addressed why we’re supporting ATC reform and highlighted the benefits a modernized system will bring to our economy, our airlines and most importantly our customers.
